DEP-02
Education Policy
Quality, innovative education for all, and for those most often left out.
Education sits at the centre of the helix. The department focuses on learners who are most often excluded: children from poor households, learners with disabilities, girls and boys at risk of dropping out, and children whose schooling has been disrupted by conflict. It studies what works and supports the Foundation's own learning projects.
Research themes
Disability inclusion
Access, accommodations and teacher preparation for learners with disabilities.
Learning outcomes
Moving from enrolment to actual learning in reading, numeracy and digital skills.
Education in crisis
Schooling in conflict-affected areas and the recovery of lost learning.
Gender and exclusion
Who leaves school early, why, and how the pattern differs for girls and boys.
Questions we are asking
- What does it cost to make a typical public school accessible?
- Which remedial approaches recover learning fastest after disruption?
- How do skills programmes connect to the jobs young people can actually get?
